Alison Krauss has canceled the remaining tour dates with Union Station on their 2026 "Arcadia Tour" after doctors advised the 27-time Grammy winner to take a period of vocal rest.
Krauss posted the announcement on social media on Sept. 10, noting that the decision came with "great regret" and was not "made lightly." The announcement results in the cancellation of 15 stops, including a three-night residency at the Ryman Auditorium from Sept. 18-20.
The Americana and bluegrass artist did not say when she would be back on the road or whether the tour dates would be rescheduled. However, all tickets for the canceled shows will be refunded, and she encouraged fans to reach out to their ticket vendors regarding refund questions.
Why did Alison Krauss and Union Station cancel the remainder of their tour?
According to her official
statement posted on social media, Krauss canceled the rest of her tour to rest her voice.
"It is with great regret that Alison Krauss & Union Station have announced the cancellation of our upcoming tour dates," Krauss' social media post said.
"After consulting with medical professionals, Alison has been advised to take a period of vocal rest to ensure a full and healthy recovery."
"This decision was not made lightly as we are deeply committed to our fans. However, prioritizing health and vocal integrity is imperative at this time," the statement continued.
Has Alison Krauss had vocal issues before?
This is not the first time Krauss has dealt with and publicly acknowledged vocal strain.
After nearly 30 years of performing, Krauss was diagnosed with a condition called dysphonia (a catch-all term used to encompass several vocal issues) in 2013. "I’d go onstage and it would shut down. In the studio my throat would close up,” she told The Tennessean years after her diagnosis.
"That was a pain in the neck. Literally," she added.
Forced to cancel several shows with Union Station after her diagnosis, Krauss worked with vocal coach Ron Browning to rehabilitate her voice. The sessions were "like getting a shot in the arm about singing again," Krauss told The Tennessean in 2017.
Prior to her diagnosis, Krauss was working on her first solo album in roughly 15 years, "Windy City," but due to her condition she had to pause production. However, three years later in 2016, she completed the album and released it in 2017, marking her first solo release in 18 years.
