Hours after the news of 80-year-old Dolly Parton's death has flooded social media and grief-stricken fans, Ashland City Mayor Gerald Greer offered a way to pay tribute to the Tennessee icon.

"I’ve heard from many of you asking if we could change the theme of this year’s Ashland City Christmas Parade to honor the one and only Dolly Parton," Greer said in a social media post Aug. 26.
"I think it’s a wonderful way to celebrate the Christmas season while paying tribute to a Tennessee legend who has brought so much joy to generations of people through her music, kindness, and her Imagination Library."
Residents can vote on their favorite Dolly Parton theme, Dolly Christmas, Holly Dolly Christmas and
Dolly Country Christmas, now until noon Aug. 27.
Votes can be cast in the comments section of the city's Facebook post "to keep the voting organized."
One vote is allowed per person. The theme with the most votes wins.
