The Tennessean has compiled some of the top plays from preseason scrimmage action around the Nashville area on July 31. We've ranked the top five plays.
No. 1 LJ Funk's deep ball to Stephen Saulter
Pearl-Cohn would love nothing more than to return to the Class 4A state championship game in December. Quarterback LJ Funk will have to be among the players to lead them there. This deep touchdown pass to Stephen Saulter put the Firebirds on the board against Nashville Christian during their scrimmage at Pearl-Cohn.
No. 2 Colorado football commit Andre Adams' TD connection
Antioch QB Andre Adams, who is No. 5 on this year's Dandy Dozen list, found his brother, Aaden "Bug" Adams for this corner-end-zone throw against Brentwood Academy during
scrimmage action on July 31.
No. 3 Tennessee football commit Kenneth Simon II's goal line leap
Kenneth Simon II, who flipped from Alabama to Tennessee football last month, went airborne for this short touchdown against Antioch.
No. 4 CPA's Bryson Mathis takes short pass to the house
CPA traveled to Springfield to face five-star DB Jermaine Cobbins, but the Lions held their own on the strength of this touchdown pass to Bryson Mathis who took it down the sideline and cut back for an impressive scoring play.
No. 5 Oakland QB Donte Cameron pops a big run
The Patriots are looking to remain a Class 6A power and Donte Cameron could be an x-factor. Cameron took this snap under center and broke off a 50-plus-yard run to get deep into Lipscomb Academy territory during their scrimmage.
