Not only will New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart not play against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 27, he will not play for the rest of the season, according to ESPN's Ian Rapoport.
Dart injured his knee on the opening series against theLos Angeles Rams on Sept. 21 at SoFi Stadium and did not return. Rapoport reported that Dart will have surgery to repair his MCL and meniscus.
The Giants (1-0) host the Titans (0-2) on Sept. 27 (noon CT, CBS).
Dart, who's in his second NFL season after starring at Ole Miss, took a hit to his knee on a violent collision in the backfield. He was hit from his right side by Rams linebacker Byron Young, pushing Dart into linebacker Josaiah Stewart, who undercut Dart unintentionally.

Dart was 3-for-5 for 20 yards before leaving the game. He was replaced by backup Jameis Winston, who finished 11-for-27 for 111 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception.
Dart completed 216-of-339 passes (63.7%) for 2,272 yards, 15 TDs and five interceptions as a rookie, averaging 6.7 yards per pass.
He was spectacular in the Giants' 2026 opener against the Dallas Cowboys, finishing 23-of-29 passing for 230 yards, three TDs and no interceptions in a 28-20 victory.
Winston is the presumed starter against the Titans. He has made 89 starts in 12 NFL seasons, throwing for 24,903 yards, 156 touchdowns and 114 interceptions.
Winston made two starts in three appearances for the Giants last season. He threw for 567 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. His last win as a starter came in 2024 against the Browns.
Winston is a former No. 1 pick out of Florida State who in 2013 became the youngest player to win the Heisman Trophy, earning the award as a 19-year-old redshirt freshman. He led FSU to a 14-0 record and the 2013 BCS National Championship that season.
His other NFL stops include the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns.
