Hot temperatures with high humidity are pretty certain and periods of heavy rain are likely on Saturday, Aug. 8, when tens of thousands are expected in East Nashville for the Tomato Art Festival and other outdoor events in the area.
There is a 50% chance of rain with heavy downpours and gusty winds the biggest threat, according to the National Weather Service. The best chance for rain is during the afternoon hours.
Temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s with heat index readings as high as 101 because of high humidity readings.
Saturday is the second of the two-day Tomato Art Fest, happening in East Nashville’s Five Points area from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The festival has has drawn more than 75,000 in past years, organizers said.
The Williamson
County Fair is also underway with gates opening at 10 a.m. at the Williamson County Agricultural Expo Park in Franklin. The fair runs through Aug. 15.
Elsewhere, Metro Nashville Public Schools will hold a Back-to-School Bash from 10 a.m. to noon at McGavock High School for the McGavock cluster. Nashville public schools start the 2026-27 school year on Aug. 11.
Temperatures on Aug. 9 and 10, are also expected to reach the middle 90s and heat indexes topping 100 degrees with scattered storms possible, according to the weather service forecast.
