We've reached the midway point of the TSSAA football season.
The Tennessean has released its lists of the top offensive and defensive players at the midseason point, along with our midseason report. We've selected the top 15 defensive players in the area; now it's your turn.
Vote for the TSSAA football Nashville area midseason defensive player of the year below. The poll closes on Oct. 2 at noon.
Fred Ntumba, Antioch, Jr.: Ntumba had 11 QB hurries, eight sacks, 36 tackles and 15 tackles for a loss.
Trey Thornton, Blackman, Sr.: Thornton leads the area with five interceptions.
Kenneth Simon, Brentwood Academy, Sr.: A Tennessee commit, Simon follows Jennings closely with 20 tackles, two interceptions and two pass deflections.
Roman Jennings, Brentwood
Academy, Sr.: The linebacker committed to Liberty leads the Eagles with 25 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, two pass deflections and a forced fumble.
Omarii Sanders, Franklin Road Academy, Sr.: The Vanderbilt commit had 16 tackles and an interception.
Keilan Neal, Franklin Road Academy, Sr.: Neal had 21 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss and three sacks.
Liam Laird, Independence, Jr.: Laird had 40 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, three interceptions and a fumble recovery.
Elijah Carter, Middle Tennessee Christian, Sr.: Named Daily News Journal's breakout player of the midseason, Carter had 29 tackles, 14 tackles for a loss, six sacks, one pass deflection, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Henri Perry, Montgomery Bell Academy, Jr.: Perry had 21 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble.
Tyler Barth, Nolensville, Jr.: The junior linebacker had 40 tackles, eight tackles for loss and four sacks.
Taylen Cisneros, Page, Jr.: The outside linebacker had 18 total tackles through the first half of the season, six tackles for a loss.
Hudson Fuqua, Riverdale, Sr.: Committed to Mississippi State, Fuqua logged 38 tackles, an interception, two pass breakups, a forced fumble and a touchdown.
Julius Malden, Riverdale, Sr.: An edge rusher committed to Charlotte, Malden had 17 tackles, 14 QB hurries and three pass breakups.
Dallas Pauldo, Rockvale Sr.: The Maryland commit had 17 tackles, four tackles for a loss and a sack.
Noah Jaeger, Smyrna, Sr.: Jaeger had 43 tackles, five tackles for a loss, three sacks, an interception and three pass deflections
