Live On The Green, Nashville’s former downtown concert series, will return after a five-year hiatus in 2027. Organizers Lightning 100 and Opry Entertainment Group shared the news Tuesday, Aug. 25, announcing the festival’s new location at Ascend Amphitheater and a special “Lawnwarming” event on Oct. 18.
“With the help of our friends at Opry Entertainment Group, we’re thrilled to celebrate the return of ‘Live On The Green’ in 2027 with a special Lawnwarming Party this October,” said Lester Turner Jr., president of Tuned In Broadcasting, Inc., which is the parent company of Lightning 100.
Turner went on to highlight the festival's free-admission roots, noting 1,000 free tickets and "other affordable ticket options" will be available for the “Live
On The Green” Lawnwarming Party. Details for the revamped festival series will be announced soon.

Rock band Guster and singer-songwriter Grace Potter, known for mixing country and soul influences, will take part in the Oct. 18 launch party, with additional artists to be announced at a later date. Both acts are alumni of the Live On The Green series, which was founded in 2009 as a free, community concert series held each fall in downtown Nashville.
Live On The Green was previously hosted at Public Square Park behind the Metro Courthouse. It was known for a multi-day lineup of local emerging acts and national headliners. Past performers included Alabama Shakes, Gary Clark Jr., Cage the Elephant, Portugal. The Man, The Head & the Heart, Spoon, The Wallflowers and more.
The festival shut down through the COVID-19 pandemic but returned for its final year in 2022, with artists Sheryl Crow, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, COIN, Moon Taxi and more.
Shawn Krauel, Opry Entertainment Group’s vice president of amphitheaters and festivals, said the returning festival series will aim to "build on the community and festival atmosphere" Live On The Green was known for, while offering Nashville fans an elevated experience at Ascend Amphitheater.
“We’re excited to welcome Live On The Green to Ascend Federal Credit Union Amphitheater and give fans a preview of what they can expect when the series returns next year," Krauel said.
