Infielder Lio Garcia, ranked the No. 10 player in the Class of 2028 by Perfect Game, announced his commitment to Vanderbilt baseball Oct. 25.
"First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity," Garcia wrote on Instagram. "Thank you to my family, Coach Corbin, and everyone who has helped me along the way and believed in me throughout this journey. I’m blessed and beyond excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Vanderbilt University. The work doesn’t stop here. Time to get to work. Anchor Down!"
Garcia visited Vanderbilt in early September and also visited Auburn and Miami.
He is the second top-10 player in the 2028 class committed to the Commodores, along with No. 8 player Aiden
Kearney. There are two other top-100 recruits in the class, per Perfect Game, with Jack Rhodes (No. 33) and Gavin Chakar (No. 61). Canyon Koonce, DJ Jones and Liam Laffin are also part of the seven-player class.
Garcia is a 6-foot, 170-pound infielder who attends Buford High School in Georgia. He shows good athleticism, with the ability to remain at shortstop defensively.
