Nashville Predators goaltending prospect Jack Ivankovic had an unusually dangerous save for the University of Michigan over the weekend.
During the Wolverines' 4-3 win over the University of Denver on Oct. 17, Ivankovic attempted a save on a shot from the point, but instead the puck wedged into his goalie mask. The puck came to a stop just short of his right eye.
Michigan hockey posted video of the save to their Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as a photo of the aftermath of the save.
Ivankovic made 33 saves, including the one which nearly took out his eye, in the win for No. 1-ranked Michigan. The 19-year-old is now 6-0-0 with a .930 save percentage this season, and he was also named Big Ten First Star of the Week.
Ivankovic was selected No.
58 overall by the Predators in the 2025 NHL Draft and is Nashville's top goaltending prospect. The 6-foot, 179-pound goaltender grew up in Ontario idolizing Predators' goaltender Pekka Rinne.
"I wore No. 35 growing up because of him, so it's pretty cool ending up here," Ivankovic, who now wears No. 72 for Michigan, said after he was drafted in 2025.
