Lebanon’s city council has approved a severance agreement with City Attorney Andy Wright following his suspension through the end of July.
The council voted 4-2 on Sept. 1 for the severance package and "general release" from Wright.
Oct. 30 is Wright's last day of employment, the severance agreement states. Wright was appointed as Lebanon’s interim city attorney in early 2004, and became Lebanon's full-time city attorney in May 2004, according to the city's website.
Lebanon will pay Wright a gross sum of just over $186,358, representing 12 months of salary in monthly installments. The agreement also has an additional $1,812.73 in COBRA insurance premiums. The payout is just over $17,342 per month for 12 months totaling more than $208,000.
Wright’s
suspension without pay was issued by Lebanon Mayor Rick Bell according to a “Hearing Decision Letter” dated June 30. The suspension was related to performance.
“Your poor communication and poor responsiveness, coupled with low productivity are negatively impacting city operations and the ability of the legal department to appropriately support the city council and other departments who rely on your legal guidance to serve the public,” the decision letter included.
