Who had the best TSSAA football performances from the Nashville area in Week 8?
Every week we rank the top five best individual and team performances in the area. Factors include statistics, quality of opponent and how wins factor into the Tennessee high school football playoffs.
Top TSSAA football Week 8 individual performances ranked
1 Andre Adams, Antioch: It was a Mr. Football kind of night for Adams. He was 23-for-33, throwing for 392 yards and three touchdowns in a thrilling 34-31 win over FRA.
2. Larry Sanders, Brentwood Academy: Sanders was one touchdown off from owning the Eagles record for most rushing scores in a game. He had 21 carries for 195 yards and five touchdowns.
3. Kwadir Fletcher, FRA: Fletcher rushed
for 161 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries in a loss to Antioch.
4. Micah Morgan, Forrest: Morgan was perfect passing, going 9-of-9 for 139 yards and three touchdowns. Morgan also had seven carries for 61 yards and a touchdown.
5. Zakyus Everly, Lawrence County: Everly had seven catches for 129 yards and a touchdown and had seven carries for 38 yards in a win over Dickson County.
Top TSSAA football Week 8 team performances ranked
1. Antioch: Powered by nearly 400 yards passing from quarterback Andre Adams, the Bears came back from 11 down to defeat Franklin Road Academy and keep their perfect season alive.
2. Brentwood Academy: The Eagles handed Briarcrest Christian its first loss of the season in a 35-point rout, 42-7. Brentwood Academy had 384 yards of total offense, led by five rushing touchdowns from Larry Sanders II.
3. East Robertson: There haven't been many teams that have been able to slow down East Robertson this season as it improved to 8-0 with a shutout win over Houston County, 49-0. It has shut out the Fighting Irish in the last two meetings, 79-0 combined.
4. Montgomery Bell Academy: After narrowly beating Christ Presbyterian Academy in Week 7 in rainy conditions, the Big Red responded with a 28-point win over Father Ryan, 35-7. Quarterback Charlie Verner completed 10-of-15 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown and had five carries for 45 yards and a TD.
5. Lawson: The Lightning got shut out in back-to-back weeks coming into their matchup against Hillsboro. They responded with a shutout of their own, 26-0. It was Lawson's second shutout of the season.
