Attorneys for Christa Pike are set to appear during a status conference Oct. 7 in Davidson County Chancery Court. The hearing was called in response to defense attorneys' request for an order to preserve relevant evidence from Pike's failed execution attempt on Sept. 30.
Pike's legal team filed the emergency motion on Oct. 2, and Chancellor I'Ashea Myles signed an order granting the hearing.
Pike's attorneys outlined what kind of evidence they want preserved in an exhibit attached to their motion; the list included medical materials used in the execution attempt, surveillance footage, training and employment records of the IV team, communications regarding the decision to call for emergency medical care, and more.
Attorneys are also asking to be
granted access to Pike to independently document her medical condition.
Details about Pike's status in the hospital were shared for the first time in the same court filing. She was intubated, on a ventilator and unconscious, it said.
The court hearing is set to begin at 11 a.m.
