The TSSAA golf season begins July 27.
Here are the top Nashville area Tennessee high school boys golfers returning for the 2026-27 season.
Max Froio, Battle Ground Academy, Sr.: Froio had a nine-hole average of 37 and an 18-hole average of 75 last season.
Braxton Head, Blackman, Sr.: Head won the Tennessee State Junior Am this summer. He placed 12th at the Class AA state tournament (70-74-144) after being low medalist at both the District 8 (77) and Region 4 (69) tournaments. He averaged 72 for the season.
George Laskaris, Brentwood, Jr.: Lasakaris shot a 2-under, 142, at the Class AA state tournament, tying for fifth. He averaged 36.1 per nine holes in district play and finished third at the district tournament with a 2-under, 69.
Stewart Claassen,
Brentwood Academy, Sr.: Claassen is the Eagles’ top finisher returning from last year’s state championship team. He shot a 74-74 at the Division II-AA state tournament for a 4-over, 148.
Dan McGugin, Ensworth, Sr.: McGugin, a Vanderbilt commitment, was forced to withdraw from last year’s DII-AA state tournament with an injury. He shot 69-76 (145) to tie for 12th at the Elite at GreyStone Golf Club tournament this summer.
Thomas McGugin, Ensworth, So.: McGugin tied for 14th at last season’s state tournament, shooting 73-72 (145) for a 1-over finish.
Carson Richards, Ensworth, Jr.: The talented transfer from California has two top 15 and a top 40 finish in AJGA tournaments in 2026, ranking 982 nationally in the AJGA Rolex Rankings. He shot 77-70 (217) to tie for 12th at the AJGA Huntsville Junior in June.
Walker Webb, Franklin Road Academy, Sr.: Webb, who was the Tennessean’s 2026 Boys Golfer of the Year, won the DII-A individual title with a 10-under, 134, the lowest score of any division at the championship. The Iowa State commitment’s final-round 65 tied a school record and ranked as the fourth-lowest round in TSSAA state tournament history.
Brady Dorr, Hendersonville, Jr.: Dorr qualified for last season’s state tournament, averaging 77 per 18 holes for the year.
Dane Gilbert, Hickman County, Sr.: Gilbert tied for third at the Class A state tournament last season, shooting 70-75 for a 1-over 145.
Zach Barrett, Pope John Paul II, Sr.: Barrett’s looking to return to the TSSAA state tournament after qualifying as an individual his sophomore year. He averaged a 74 per 18 holes last season, shooting a season-best 70 at the DA Invitational at Foxland.
Jonas Reynolds, Station Camp, Jr.: Reynolds tied for seventh at the Class 2A state championship, shooting 72-71 for a 1-under 143.
Glenn Tanner, Stewart County, Sr.: Tanner shot 73 to place third in the district tournament last season and also placed third at the Creek Wood Invitational (77). His nine-hole average was 39.9.
Samson Milleville, Stewart County, Fr.: Milleville could make a splash in his debut varsity season. He was the 2024 TMSAA Region Champion and has 20 wins out of 42 events in BlueGolf tournaments. He shot 74-77 at the Callaway World Championship in Palm Desert, California.
Austin Felker, Stewarts Creek, So.: Felker averaged 77 per 18 holes last season and was part of Stewarts Creek’s region championship and state-qualifying team.
Phet Phothong, Webb School - Bell Buckle, Jr.: Photon, the 2023 Division II-A state champion, placed fifth at last season’s state tournament, shooting 71-70 for a 3-under 141.
