Overton football coach Ron Lambert has been placed on administrative leave by Metro Nashville Public Schools as the district reviews “concerns regarding professional conduct" around the coach, The Tennessean has learned.
Lambert, who was not with his team last week at Nolensville, had “verbal disagreements involving some parents and family members” at Overton’s Aug. 28 TSSAA footballgame at Hillsboro, MNPS chief of communications Sean Braisted told The Tennessean.
Braisted clarified that there was no physical altercation involving Lambert, his staff or parents at the Hillsboro game. The disagreement with parents is part of the district's review but is not the sole basis for Lambert’s administrative leave, Braisted said, noting that the review process
alone doesn’t constitute disciplinary or corrective action.
"Administrative leave is a routine step when circumstances involving an employee require further review," Braisted said.
Metro would not provide additional details since the review is ongoing.
Lambert did not coach in Overton’s 41-0 loss at Nolensville on Sept. 4, one week after the Hillsboro game. Nolensville coach Scott Stidham said he did not know until the day of the game that Lambert would not be there. Stidham was told Lambert had the flu.
Overton is 0-3 this season going into its Sept. 11 game at Clarksville. Lambert is 5-17 since becoming the Bobcats coach in 2024.
