Quarterback Cam Ward is satisfied with how the Tennessee Titans handled the situation after defensive lineman Jordan Elliott was released from the team after attempting to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle.
The incident occurred on Oct. 15, three days prior to the Titans winning their first game of the 2026 season by coming back to beat the host Indianapolis Colts, 26-20.
"I think we handled it well," Ward said. "We know the situation that it is, but at the end of the day we're all human. We're all with (Elliott), and I mean he's a great person in the locker room, outside of the locker room. But at the end of the day, we're going to always continue to be there for him."

Cam Ward doesn't change preparation after win
The Titans win broke a seven-game losing streak, dating back to 2025. The Titans (1-5) host the Cleveland Browns (4-2) on Oct. 25 (noon, CBS).
"(Winning) doesn't change anything; We still know we're behind the eight ball, we still know we have a lot to prove to ourselves," Ward said on Oct. 21. "I think that's the best part about it. That we know each and every week we get a new opportunity."
Ward remains among the lowest-ranked quarterbacks in the NFL in most statistical categories, and his performance in the win over Indianapolis wasn't much different from what it has been in most games this season.
Ward completed 11-of-22 passes for 102 yards with one touchdown and one interception against the Colts. He has 998 yards for the season.
Wards said he is struggling with the way that he dissects his play, suggesting that he needs not to allow bad plays to stick with him.
"We all have to be better; I have to be better," Ward said. "I'm overcritical of myself about anything. Whether it's the running game, managing people in the right positions. And the pass game, throwing guys open and giving those guys chances. It's all 11 of us on offense. As we keep on getting closer to where we want to be, as we continue to get more engaged, and play the style of football that I know we're capable of playing, I think we'll be able to get some big improvements throughout the year."
