AUBURN, AL ― Center Lyndon Cooper left Vanderbilt football's game against Auburn due to an AC joint sprain in his shoulder, coach Clark Lea said after a 21-15 loss at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Sept. 26.
"Lyndon had an AC sprain that he worked through, and he was able to return, wasn't able to finish," Lea said. "He's a tough player, and I think he'll be OK . . . It's something he's going to be able to manage. We need to get it evaluated tomorrow and make sure that we're seeing it the right way."
Cooper transferred from Pittsburgh and has been the Commodores' starting center all season. When he departed the game, Cade McConnell, who is primarily a guard but has some experience playing center, replaced him.
If Cooper has to miss significant time, it
would be a blow for a Vanderbilt offensive line that has struggled this season. The Commodores averaged just 3.6 yards per rush (not including sacks) against Auburn.
Vanderbilt (3-1, 0-1 SEC) faces Georgia on Oct. 3.
