The Nashville Predators surprised everyone with a new look on Oct. 12.
When practice began at Centennial Ice Rink, the Predators took the ice wearing a different color helmet and a new look pant shell: Dark navy helmets instead of the usual white, and a dark navy pant shell with gold trim design instead of a plain blue pant shell. The practice jerseys were the same: gold and navy.
A representative with the Predators told The Tennessean the new look is likely a preview of Nashville's Hometown Remix alternate jersey, which will be revealed in November. The NHL announced the Hometown Remix alternate jersey campaign in August.
On Sept. 25, the Predators announced their Hometown Remix jerseys will feature a nod to Dolly Parton. A custom patch will honor
the legendary country music star, who died on Aug. 25.
The gold trim on the pant shell features three stars, likely a reference to the iconic Tennessee Tri-Star emblem on the state flag.
The current Predators uniform combination features gold helmets and gold jerseys at home, with white helmets and white jerseys and gold trim on the road. The team last wore navy helmets during the regular season in 2015-16 before switching to gold and white in 2016-17. They also wore navy helmets during the Stadium Series game against the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2022.
