Nashville SC goalkeeper Brian Schwake is set to represent the United States on the international stage.
Schwake received his first call-up to the U.S. men's national team on Sept. 17, as coach Mauricio
Pochettino announced his squad for an upcoming batch of friendlies, which includes matches against Mexico and Canada. Schwake becomes the first Nashville SC player to be called up to the USMNT since former captain Walker Zimmerman.
Schwake stepped up as Nashville SC's starter this season replacing Joe Willis. He'd previously started throughout Nashville's U.S. Open Cup winning run in 2025, saving a penalty kick in the final against Austin FC.
In his first season as Nashville SC's starter, the 25-year-old Schwake is currently second in MLS with 11 clean sheets, becoming the second player in league history with 11 clean sheets in his first 23 regular-season starts. He has a club-record 16 clean sheets on the season as Nashville has conceded 28 goals in 34 games across all competitions.
Schwake's call-up will take him out of the lineup for NSC's home match against Toronto FC on Sept. 26, but he's expected to back in Nashville for the team's next match against Austin on Oct. 10.
The United States plays four friendlies over the international break, facing Peru on Sept. 26, Chile on Sept. 29, Mexico on Oct. 3 and Canada on Oct. 6. Schwake is one of four goalkeepers on the roster, alongside Chicago's Chris Brady, NYCFC's Matt Freese and Lyngby Boldklub's Diego Kochen.
