Interstate 40 westbound is shut down due to a multi-vehicle wreck near the Highway 70 exit in Bellevue.
The wreck was first reported around 11:10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
A TDOT traffic map showed backups for miles just after noon. Traffic cameras showed several emergency vehicles on the scene, which was near where the interstate crosses the Harpeth River.

Traffic is being diverted to Exit 196, which leads to Highway 70 south, according to TDOT spokesperson Erin Ziegler.
No other information, including how many vehicles were involved, if there were any injuries and when the wreck would clear, was immediately available.
