Diego Pavia has spoken on Vanderbilt football naming Blaze Berlowitz its starting quarterback for the opener against Austin Peay.
"WELL EARNED- been watching this king from the start of time at NM STATE when he took over in the championship game at 18 years old and BALLED- yall better stand down this man the truth!" Pavia said in a post on X on Aug. 25.

Berlowitz has one career start, in the Conference USA championship game while at New Mexico State in 2023, a game Pavia missed with injury. That game, Berlowtiz was 10-for-19 for 134 yards,
one touchdown and one interception. Berlowitz also appeared in six games in 2025 with Vanderbilt and went 9-for-17 with 131 yards and a touchdown.
Pavia was the Heisman runner-up in 2025. Berlowitz has been his backup for the past three years, and while Pavia helped to recruit 5-star Jared Curtis to the Commodores, he long advocated for Berlowitz to get the job over Curtis. and for Curtis to take over once Berlowitz's time in college is done.
