Carson Hocevar won't get any off-the-track attention from Denny Hamlin in the NASCAR Chase.
That is what Hamlin, the No. 1 seed in the Chase, declared after Hocevar, the 12th seed, crashed into Brad Keselowski in the Cook Out Southern 500 on Sept. 6 at Darlington Raceway.
Hamlin, who finished 18th at Darlington after contact with Michael McDowell caused damage to his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, refused to engage in a conversation about Hovecar's antics on the latest episode of Hamlin's podcast Actions Detrimental.
Hocevar, in the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, finished 11th, and Keselowski, in the No. 6 RFK Ford, was 23rd.
"I'm not going
to give (Hocevar) what he wants," Hamlin said. "I'm not going to give him the clip that he wants. Period. So, you want me to talk about Spire? I'll talk about Spire. There's no adults in the room, clearly, in that building. No adults. That's my opinion. Because how can you honestly think that's what is best for your company, if you're running a serious organization? I think they're unserious."
After the race, Keselowski, who is not in the Chase, did have something to say about Hocevar.
"His day's coming, and it's coming hard," Keselowski told Above the Yellow Line Media. "Watch out, Carson."
Hocevar seemed unfazed. When asked about the incident that took place near the end of Stage 1 on Turn 4, Hocevar said with a smile, "Yeah he spun. I don't know what happened. He spun."
When told about Keselowski's threat, Hocevar flippantly said, "I'll tighten my belts."
Earlier on his podcast, Hamlin addressed Keselowski's threat of retaliation.
"Um, Brad's comments? I would say he seemed upset, and I have no reason to doubt what Brad says, but we've heard and seen that before," Hamlin said.
When pressed to say if he truly believes Keselowski will retaliate on the track, Hamlin added, "What's Brad got to lose? TBD."
