With October creeping closer, spooky season is already making its presence known, and one of its most recognizable signs has returned: the bright orange banners of Spirit Halloween.
According to a news release, the seasonal retailer has opened more than 1,550 locations across North America, once again taking over vacant storefronts and signaling that Halloween is just around the corner.
This year, select Spirit Halloween locations are debuting "Camp Harbor Lake," a themed attraction inspired by campfire stories and 1980s horror films. Visitors can walk through an abandoned cabin setting featuring animatronic characters such as Trash Bandit, Willow Witch, Whirling Wendy and Crackles.
Spirit's annual return has become something of a cultural marker.

The pop-up stores have developed a devoted following over the years and haveinspired countless of memes, largely because of their knack for appearing in unexpected locations each fall.
"For many Halloween fans, visiting Spirit has become an annual tradition and the unofficial start of the season," said Spirit Halloween CEO Steven Silverstein in a statement.
"We take great pride in being part of that tradition, while continuing to create new reasons to be excited each year," he added. "From our immersive in store experience and industry-leading animatronics to exclusive costumes and one-of-a-kind décor, there's something for every Halloween fan to discover."
