A new In-N-Out restaurant and Wawa store are expected to open next year in Hermitage at a heavily traveled intersection that Nashville councilmember Jordan Huffman said “keeps me up at night,” referring to the congestion.
California-based In-N-Out closed on land last year at 4000 Andrew Jackson Parkway just off Old Hickory Boulevard where a golf driving range operated.
Clearing and prep work at the site is well underway.
"I can confirm that our location at 4000 Andrew Jackson Parkway in the Hermitage community of Nashville is progressing through construction," In-N-Out Burger Director of Real Estate Matt Loevenguth said in an email. "While we haven’t finalized a precise opening date, we anticipate opening this restaurant sometime in the middle
of next year."

Huffman said the Hermitage In-N-Out opening is estimated in April or May.
Wawa is also looking to build along Andrew Jackson Parkway as part of its continued expansion into Middle Tennessee. Wawa didn't estimate when a store may open, but Huffman anticipated around July 2027.
Final plans for both developments will still need to be submitted and approved, but zoning is in place, Huffman said.
Hermitage traffic concerns
The Nashville Department of Transportation & Multimodal Infrastructure has recently updated traffic patterns and signal timing at the intersection ahead of the openings, Huffman said. That work has had a positive impact, “but we still have a long way to go.” Huffman said.
Huffman advocated for a smart traffic signal for the corridor that would utilize technology to monitor and manage traffic flow in real time, especially with In-N-Out and Wawa opening at the intersection.

In-N-Out began opening restaurants in Middle Tennessee in late 2025 with several now operating and more in different stages of development. In-N-Out will also open a regional corporate office in Franklin.
Wawa has also opened its first stores in Middle Tennessee this year in Clarksville, Dickson and Lebanon with several more about to open.
