The summer of 2026 has already been jam-packed with new country music albums. With so much happening in the Tennessee heat, standouts are bound to sneak past even dedicated fans.
Keith Urban went yacht rock, CMA Entertainer of the Year Cody Johnson brought fans home to Sebastopol, Texas, and Margo Price took a political stand. Shaboozey will soon share an ambitious concept album inspired by the ruthless Old West, and even that misses dozens of potential new favorites.
From the return of a country legend to the next steps of rising stars, swaggering urban cowboys to a vocal duo who have never needed autotune or AI, here are five new country album releases worth checking out this summer, including a few upcoming collections worth circling on the calendar.
Midland — "Stages" (June 12)
The Texas-coded trio Midland helped kick off a traditional-country renaissance when they ushered old-school cool (and pedal steel) back onto charts with "Drinkin' Problem" in 2017. Now, in 2026, the group is still exploring new elements of throwback country on their fifth album, "Stages." But this time, their scrappy honky-tonk edge has been replaced by the smooth, golden buzz of '90s country. Injecting some acid-washed swagger into their rhinestoned-style tracks, like "Marlboro Man" and "I Wish You Would" (featuring Mackenzie Carpenter), the new album taps into the band's rise from tiny clubs around the Southwest to the massive stages they play today. The emotional fallout is never far behind.
Shania Twain — "Little Miss Twain" (July 24)
Some of Shania Twain's most iconic albums were written or co-written entirely by the living legend herself. "Come On Over," "Up!," "Now" and even the vast majority of "The Woman In Me" came from her pen. But she's never addressed her own personal story like she does on "Little Miss Twain." Out of 15 tracks on the new album, six were written solo, and only one came from an outside source. They find Twain looking back to her Canadian childhood in new ways, including tales of her late mother, a trusty old pickup truck and the moment Eileen Edwards became "Shania." Her new songs still feature that signature fusion of free-spirited country, pop, and rock, but also come with some jazz and bluegrass influences mixed in.
Carter Faith — "Cherry Valley Forever" (July 24)
It's rare for a deluxe album to generate more buzz than its original version, but the follow-up to Carter Faith's critically acclaimed 2025 debut goes beyond your average repackage. "Cherry Valley Forever" adds five new tunes to a project lauded for its hard-luck heroes, striking Southern vocals and force-of-nature confidence, which recalls female artists like Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton. Pulling more twisted tales from her made-up small town of Cherry Valley, Faith includes a new duet with fellow rising star Wyatt Flores, and forms a new trio of honky-tonk vixens. She's joined by Laci Kaye Booth and Baby Nova on the high-caliber revenge ballad, "Pearl Handled Pistol."
Charlie Worsham — "Once Upon a Second Time Around" (August 7)
Before he became one of Nashville's most respected session and touring musicians, Charlie Worsham was a promising solo artist. Now, after winning multiple CMA and ACM awards for his instrumental prowess (both in the studio and on the road in Dierks Bentley's band), Worsham returns to center stage for "Once Upon a Second Time Around." Expert, effortless guitar, banjo and mandolin playing were all a given. But what's refreshing is Worsham's always-sunny sense of perspective. He traces a frame around a relatable life of challenge and triumph, family, faith and momentary freedom, then steps back to proclaim the big picture a thing of beauty. Lainey Wilson, Stephen Wilson Jr. plus The Travelin' McCourys join in. And, along the way, the feel-good joy is infectious.
Dan + Shay — "Young" (August 21)
More than a dozen years have passed since Dan + Shay began winning over country fans with heart-forward song craft and stunning vocal mastery. Both elements are more potent today than ever, as can be seen on the Grammy-winning duo's sixth album, "Young." It's a bit of a head-fake title, since the tracks are guided by the steady hand of maturity, yet the creative brotherhood between Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney also feels renewed. Over 10 songs, their buoyant country-pop evolves to tackle everything from mental health to getting married (over and over again). Meanwhile, their balladry remains spine-tingling. There's still a unique spark of magic in the duo's vocal blend, something so richly human no generative AI program could ever fully match. If the upbeat, optimistic singles from the album like "Marry You Again" or "Her, The Kids, and Jesus" are any indication, the album is sure to offer plenty of jams for an easy summer day by the lake or the beach.
