Tennessee Titans left tackle Dan Moore Jr., returned to the practice field on Aug. 6 after leaving with an undisclosed injury on Aug. 4, a major indicator of relieffor Titans fans who've long dreaded injuries and lack of depth at the tackle spot.
Moore, the Titans' third-highest-paid player annually, started 16 games for the Titans last year as QB Cam Ward's blindside protector, allowing eight sacks and 48 total pressures according to Pro Football Focus. Though those numbers didn't rank particularly high among starting-caliber offensive linemen, they represented a significant upgrade over the meager tackle play the Titans put on the field from 2022-24 when the rotating turnstile of Titans tackle options included Dennis Daley, Andre Dillard, Nicholas
Petit-Frere and Jaelyn Duncan to name a few.
The Titans' depth pieces beyond Moore are indicative of the league's difficulties to develop and retain quality backups at offensive tackle. Austin Deculus, the free agent the Titans signed this offseason to provide experience on the second-team offensive line, graded out as the NFL's second-worst pass blocking tackle in 2025 (minimum 200 snaps), and internally-signed developmental option Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson only managed to ink seven snaps as a rookie and still allowed one quarterback hit.
Moore helps anchor a Titans offensive line built around himself and former first-round pick JC Latham at tackle as well as budding star Peter Skoronski at left guard. The Titans are expected to start free agent add Austin Schlottmann at center and have several players competing for the starting job at right guard. The competition includes free agent add Cordell Volson, 2025 draft pick Jackson Slater and, in a longer shot, 2026 draft pick Fernando Carmona Jr.
The Titans play their first preseason game on Aug. 13 against the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.
