The Tennessee Titans released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott because he tried to get a gun from his car after a practice altercation, according to multiple reports.
The Titans said Elliott was involved in an undisclosed “incident” on Oct. 15 when they released him on Oct. 20. The team would not comment to The Tennessean about reports that a gun was involved.
Titans coach Robert Saleh holds his weekly press conference at 11:25 on Oct. 21.
According to KPRC-TV's Aaron Wilson, citing unnamed sources, Elliott was in an altercation with offensive tackle JC Latham and was asked to leave the field on Oct. 15. Elliott then went to his car and was believed to be getting his gun before defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers calmed Elliott down, according
to Wilson.
What's Jordan Elliott NFL background?
Elliott is a seventh-year veteran and was contributing to the Titans’ run defense. He joined the team as a free agent last offseason, having played for Saleh with the San Francisco 49ers in 2025, when Saleh was the defensive coordinator.
Elliott signed a two-year deal valued at $8 million in 2026. His cap hit is $2.8 million this season and $5.1 million next.
Elliott had 11 tackles in five games this season.
Elliott mostly played on the right side as a run-stopping defensive tackle. He had two solo tackles, nine assisted tackles and one quarterback pressure.
He graded below average in run defense at 47.6 for the season, according to Pro Football Focus, but was coming off his best singular grade in a losing effort against the Houston Texans (67.5).
After Saleh was fired as the New York Jets coach, he returned to San Francisco in 2025 as defensive coordinator and connected with Elliott.
Elliott recorded 50 tackles, 20 solo tackles, three tackles for loss and four quarterback hits in two seasons with the 49ers. He spent four seasons with the Cleveland Browns before that.
Elliott has logged 102 career NFL games with 65 starts, 159 tackles, 71 solo stops, 11 TFLs and 14 quarterback hits.
He was a Browns third-round draft pick in 2020 out of Missouri, where he was a first-team All-SEC player in 2019.
