Tennessee Titans linebacker Cedric Gray remains questionable for the team's Sept. 20 game against the Eagles at Nissan Stadium, Titans coach Robert Saleh said on Sept. 16.
Gray was in NFL concussion protocol and did not play in the Titans' 23-10 loss to the Jets in Week 1 after being involved in a utility terrain vehicle crash
over Labor Day weekend. Gray practiced in pads on Sept. 16 and will be re-evaluated.Saleh said on Sept. 14 that he expected Gray would clear protocol.
The Titans need all the depth they can find with Jalen Hurts and the Eagles (1-0) coming next.
Rookie linebacker Anthony
Hill Jr. shined in Gray's absence, recording 16 tackles and two pass breakups. He missed just one tackle, and Pro Football Focus gave him the second-best overall defensive grade on the Titans (78.7).
Gray was the Titans' leading tackler and the NFL's fifth-leading tackler in 2025 with 160. Most expected Gray entering his third NFL season to be the Titans' top linebacker in a group that also includes Hill, veteran Cody Barton, fellow third-year player James Williams Sr. and special teams ace Dorian Mausi, who is on injured reserve.
Williams returned to practice in a yellow non-contact jersey as he recovers from an elbow strain, Saleh said, and linebacker Mohamoud Diabate will be back with the practice squad next after needed surgery to repair his thumb.
