Natasha Ann Cable, 46, was identified Aug. 21 as the woman killed on Aug. 17 when the truck she'd been sleeping under pulled out and crushed her, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Police previously said in a statement that Cable, who was known to frequent the area, had been sleeping under the truck's trailer when it pulled out of a parking spot at 2:30 p.m., causing the rear tires to crush her. The truck driver may not have even known that Cable was struck during the incident, according to the statement.
The department also said it appears that Cable, who did not have a listed address, was homeless, according to an police spokesperson.
Cable's death came amid a recent heat warning, with the temperature on Aug. 17 reaching a high
of 96, according to the National Weather Service.
Bonnie Broberg, the vice president of development at Nashville Rescue Mission, says she hopes the shelter can help those without shelter seek relief from "brutal hot months."
"(Poverty is) a really tough place to be (in)," Broberg said. "We want to stand in that gap and be the caring, concerned, compassionate group that's acting every day to support somebody through the hardest moments of their life."
More than 4,000 peoplewere experiencing homelessness in Nashville last December, according to a report from the Office of Homeless Services.
