Tennessee State football must win its last six games to avoid a second straight losing season.
Homecoming usually provides the host with an easy chance to pick up a win, but that may not be the case for the Tigers (1-5), who face Morgan State (5-1) at Nissan Stadium on Oct. 17 (5:30 p.m.,ESPN+).
The Bears moved to No. 1 in the Black College Football Division I FCS poll after picking up their fourth straight win on Oct. 10, a 28-27 decision over Robert Morris. On Oct. 3, the Bears beat Villanova (38-35), which was ranked in the Stats Perform Top 25 the first four weeks of the season.
TSU is among the worst rushing teams in the nation, averaging just 63.7 yards per game, but quarterback Daylin Lee has looked good at times. It was a mixed bag for
Lee in the last game against UT Martin on Oct. 10. He threw three touchdowns but committed four turnovers (three interceptions and a fumble) in a 42-28 loss.
Morgan State is led by quarterback Cameron Edge, who leads the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in passing yards per game (222.8) and total passing yards (1,337). He has thrown 11 touchdowns with only two interceptions.
