The Tennessee Titans are taking the field for their first training camp practice of the 2026 NFL preseasonon July 29. Here's everything you need to know about the day.
This practice will mark the first full-team preseason session for coach Robert Saleh's squad, who've been off for a quick summer break since OTAs and minicamp ended in June. Training camp will last through Aug. 29, when the Titans complete their preseason slate, and Aug. 30, when NFL teams are required to cull their active rosters down to 53 players from the customary 90 players who participate in training camp.
The Tennessean will be on hand for every one of the Titans' training camp practices throughout the preseason, including joint practices against the San Francisco 49ers,
Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears. Live updates are permitted on days when fans attend practice, and practice updates will be posted throughout the days and weeks from The Tennessean's beat writer Nick Suss, sports columnist Gentry Estes and various other staffers.
Is Titans practice open today, July 29?
No, Titans practice will not be open to fans on July 29. The first open practice date is scheduled for Aug. 1.
Titans injury updates: Will everybody practice?
Offensive tackle JC Latham will begin training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Starting camp on the PUP list is generally used as a precautionary tactic that helps create an easier return-to-play path if injuries linger into the regular season but is not a guarantee that injuries are expected to linger.
Defensive end Oluwafemi Oladejo, who missed OTAs and minicamp with a lingering injury, is not starting the year on PUP but will be one of the most interesting players to monitor health-wise. The same can be said about wide receiver Calvin Ridley and safety Kevin Winston Jr., who both ended last season on IR.
Is Cam Ward practicing? Titans depth chart on offense
Coming into training camp, the Titans' anticipated starting unit on offense should look a little something like this:
- QB: Cam Ward
- RB: Tony Pollard
- WR: Carnell Tate, Wan'Dale Robinson, Calvin Ridley
- TE: Gunnar Helm
- OL: Dan Moore Jr., Peter Skoronski, Austin Schlottmann, Cordell Volson, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Crenshaw-Dickson is a placeholder until Latham gets back, and should be competing with veteran Austin Deculus for the swing tackle job. Schlottmann and Volson are considered to be in competition for the center and right guard spots, though Volson's competition with Jackson Slater and Fernando Carmona feels tighter than Schlottmann's with Andre James and Pat Coogan.
Though they aren't listed as starters, expect RB Tyjae Spears and TE Daniel Bellinger to feature heavily in this Titans' offense.
Is Jeffery Simmons practicing? Projecting Titans roster on defense
Here's The Tennessean's projection for the defensive depth chart:
- DL: Jeffery Simmons, John Franklin-Myers
- DE: Jermaine Johnson II, Keldric Faulk
- LB: Cedric Gray, Cody Barton
- CB: Alontae Taylor, Cor'Dale Flott, Marcus Harris
- S: Amani Hooker, Kevin Winston Jr., Tony Adams
Harris plays the nickel, but don't be surprised if the Titans make use of Joshua Williams or any of their depth pieces at safety on the inside on occasion. Jacob Martin should factor into. the rotation off the edge, and the DL/DE spots also leave room for Solomon Thomas, Jordan Elliott and several other rotational pieces.
When are Titans joint practices?
The Titans hold joint practices on Aug. 11 against the 49ers in San Francisco, on Aug. 21 against the Seahawks in Nashville and on Aug. 27 against the Bears in Nashville.
What is the Titans' preseason schedule?
Aug. 13: at San Francisco 49ers, 8 p.m. CT (ABC)
Aug. 23: vs. Seattle Seahawks, 7 p.m., CT (FOX)
Aug. 29: vs. Chicago Bears, 5 p.m., CT (NFL Network)
