The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalled more than 122K cases of Gatorade across the country and in Tennessee after discovering that the drinks contained undeclared food coloring that could pose a risk to consumers.
Classified by the FDA as a Class II recall on Oct. 2, the recall includes 122,021 cases of 28-oz. bottles of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Lemon Lime Zero, Orange and Orange Zero. PepsiCo, the owner of Gatorade, initiated the recall on Sept. 25 because the affected products contained unlisted food colorings Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6, according to USA TODAY.
The recalled Gatorade products were distributed to Tennessee and 36 other states across the country, including several in the Southeast.

A Class II recall is "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote," the FDA says
