Cedric Gray will miss the Tennessee Titans' season opener.
Titans coach Robert Saleh announced on Sept. 11 that Gray will not play against the New York Jets on Sept. 13 (noon CT, CBS). Gray has been in concussion protocol after injuries sustained in a UTV crash during Labor Day weekend.
Saleh said the Titans will elevated veteran Mohamoud Diabate from the practice squad for this game, and the Titans will also be able to lean on James Williams Sr., and rookie Anthony Hill Jr., as replacements for Gray alongside entrenched starter Cody Barton.
Gray was the Titans' leading tackler in 2025, finishing with 164 total tackles, including 97 solo. He also had seven tackles for loss.
Beyond Gray, no other players are expected to be ruled out and there is
no expectation of any further injury designations. The Jets have ruled out defensive end Joseph Ossai and wide receiver Tim Patrick. Jets rookie cornerback D'Angelo Ponds and return specialist Kene Nwangwu are listed as doubtful.
The Titans are coming off back-to-back 3-14 seasons, which led to former coach Brian Callahan's firing and the hiring of Saleh. The Jets also finished 3-14 in 2026.
