Nashville Police are investigating after a 16-year-old was shot and killed outside an East Nashville apartment.
Officers were called to the Highland Ridge Apartment on Dickerson Pike around 7:15 p.m. Sept. 22 and found Avanya Moore-Harris injured in the breezeway, according to a statement from the department.
He was taken to Skyline Medical Center where he died from multiple gunshot wounds shortly after arrival, police said.
No one else was hurt in the shooting, police said.
Moore-Harris is one of four minors listed as homicide victims this year and the second 16-year-old to die by gun violence after Cameron Frierson was shot and killed in a drive-by while leaving a high school football game.
Last year, there were only two victims under 18 for the same
time period, but homicide numbers as a whole were double where they are this year.
