Clark Lea is hoping to have an idea of Vanderbilt football's starting quarterback by the end of the team's first scrimmage, he said in a press conference Aug. 4.
However, Lea did not hold himself to that timeline. If the team needed more time, he said, there may not be a starter by then. That scrimmage will be held Aug. 15. There is a second scrimmage that will be held Aug. 22 if the team does not have a starter by then.
Jared Curtis was a 5-star recruit who was the No. 2 ranked player in the class of 2026, while Blaze Berlowitz transferred from New Mexico State and has spend the last three years backing up Diego Pavia. Curtis is considered the favorite to win the job, but he will have to command the offense and hold off Berlowitz.
