The Tennessee Titans' final season at Nissan Stadium begins against the New York Jets on Sept. 13 (noon CT, CBS), with the goal of jumping out of the AFC cellar.
Both teams are coming off of 3-14 seasons, but reacted differently during the offseason.
Tennessee, with a head coach opening following a midseason firing, hired former Jets coach Robert Saleh, then added numerous free agents. Six players acquired in free agency are projected to start in Week 1, including wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson and cornerbacks Cor'Dale Flott and Alontae Taylor.
Cam Ward opens his second NFL season with Robinson and first-round pick Carnell Tate, along with new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.
The Jets added quarterback Geno Smith, a 2013 second-round pick by
the team, to be their starter. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall are healthy.
Temperatures are forecast to move above 90 degrees in Nashville, per the National Weather Service, with the heat index approaching 100 degrees during the game.
