Divers are working to recover the body of a person who went underwater at Percy Priest Lake and did not resurface, according to Nashville Fire Department spokesperson Kendra Taylor.
Crews were initially dispatched to the Anderson Road area on Sept. 18, Taylor said. Divers from the Nashville Fire Department, Nashville Office of Emergency Management and the Metro Nashville Police Department were not able to find the missing person.
Taylor said the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency found a body with its Remote Operated Vehicle, also know as an ROV, on Sept. 20. Divers returned to the scene to help recover the person.
The news follows reports of a person who went overboard
Friday night. A crew from La Vergne Fire Rescue responded to the call and set up command at the Hurricane Creek Boat Ramp, which is several miles from the ramp off Anderson Road, according to a news release from the department. However, the crew later learned the person went overboard near the Anderson Road Recreation Area and handed off operations to Nashville officials.
No further details, including the identity of the person who went overboard, were immediately available as of Sept. 20.
