There was a five-candidate race for Dickson County mayor in the Aug. 6 general election with Republican Danny W. Williams emerging as the victor by the end of the night.
First elected in Aug. 2010, Dickson County Mayor Bob Rial secured 54% of the vote in a four-way contest. He was re-elected to his fourth term in Aug. 2022, but chose not to seek reelection this time around.
Williams had competition from Independents Ray Ledger, Ben Shepard, Reginald "Reggie" Weaver and Caleb M. Wray in the mayoral race. He ended up with more than double the votes of second place Shepard in the win.
Three contested Dickson County Commission seats were up for election along with one school board seat and a City of Charlotte Councilman.
Dickson County Sheriff Tim Eads
was unopposed as the incumbent and ran as a Republican. He was first elected to the position in Nov. 2020.
Charlotte Mayor Garland Breeden and White Bluff Judge Andrew Renfroe were also unopposed as incumbents.
Pam Lewis (I) for circuit court clerk, Leslie Shelton (R) for general sessions court clerk, Luanne Greer (I) for county clerk, Shelly L Yates (I) for register of deeds and Glynda Barrett Pendergrass (I) for trustee were unopposed in the general election as well.
Thousands flocked to the polls to cast ballots on Election Day.
In all, 9,278 Dickson County residents voted in this election, including 5,220 who voted early and 3,824 on Election Day, according to the local election commission.
The Aug. 6 election results are unofficial until certified by the Dickson County Election Commission later in the month.
