There was an unopposed race for Cheatham County mayor Aug. 6, but a changing of the guard has taken place with a longtime incumbent choosing to step aside this year.
Pleasant View Mayor Bill Anderson successfully sought his first term as Cheatham County mayor, replacing Kerry McCarver's nearly decade-long run in the office. He ran as a Republican in the mayoral race.
Cheatham County Sheriff Tim Binkley also ran unopposed as the Republican incumbent. He's held the office since 2022.
Five contested Cheatham County Commission seats were up for election, along with a school board seat and Pegram alderman.
Unopposed in the general election were Holly C. Waller (R) for circuit court clerk, Abby Short (R) for county clerk, Cindy Binkley Perry (R) for trustee
and Chrissy Duke Henderson (R) for register of deeds.
Thousands flocked to the polls to cast ballots on Election Day.
Cheatham County has 30,034 registered voters and 4,505 of them, or 15%, voted in this election, according to the local election commission.
