What will it take to make the Titans roster? Robert Saleh answers
Here's Saleh's response to a question about how he'll handle and determine the outcomes of position battles all across the Titans' roster. It's an interesting look into what the Titans will prioritize throughout training camp and beyond during Saleh's tenure.
Robert Saleh on 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan's car crash
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, Robert Saleh's old boss at his previous job, suffered injuries in a car crash earlier this month in California.
Saleh has spoken to Shanahan since the crash, and said that "we're all very fortunate that (Shanahan is) still here."
"He looks great. Saw him on FaceTime a couple days ago," Saleh said. "The surgeon did a great job. Not easy for him to go through what he went through."
Titans have had 'positive conversations' with Peter Skoronski on contract extension
Mike Borgonzi said that he has had "positive conversations" with Peter Skoronski's reps about a contract extension.
Skoronski's rookie contract runs through the 2027 season.
Will Levis, Mitchell Trubisky will have camp battle for No. 2 QB job
Robert Saleh indicated that Will Levis and Mitchell Trubisky will be in a training camp battle for the No. 2 QB job.
"We'll give Will every opportunity to, him and Trubisky, in working for the No. 2 spot," Saleh said.
Mike Borgonzi said it's too early to say whether the team will keep three QBs on the 53-man roster.
Robert Saleh on training camp intensity: 'One of the more difficult, trying training camps for our guys'
Robert Saleh said that this training camp will be "one of the more difficult, trying training camps" for players.
"There's going to be a lot of volume, there's going to be a lot of contact," Saleh said.
Players will have to play through some soreness and not being completely 100%, the Titans coach said.
"If you feel like you're capable of playing on game day, you should be practicing," Saleh said.
" . . . After the first day of pads, there isn't a single player on the roster that's healthy for the rest of the year. They're hurt, they're dinged, they're bruised. You have all those things. And you just have to differentiate whether you're injured and you can't go or whether it's a nick or a bruise. And those are communications we'll have constantly."
JC Latham 'day-to-day' with pectoral injury
JC Latham is day-to-day, Mike Borgonzi said. He will remain on the PUP list.
Borgonzi indicated that Latham has been dealing with a pectoral injury.
Amani Hooker will come off PUP list
Amani Hooker will come off of the physically unable to perform list today, Mike Borgonzi said.
He'll be able to practice as camp opens up tomorrow.
Robert Saleh, Mike Borgonzi speaking soon
Robert Saleh and Mike Borgonzi will have their first media availabilities of training camp at noon.
The Titans brass will be asked about injury updates for JC Latham and Amani Hooker, Cam Ward heading into training camp No. 2 and more. We'll have updates here.
Carnell Tate not among highest-rated rookies on Madden 27 video game
Carnell Tate is not among the top-10 rated rookies in Madden 27's initial player ratings.
In fact, Tate is not the highest-rated Titans rookie. Keldric Faulk is a 78 overall, a point ahead of Tate's 77 overall.

Power rankings β Titans on the rise?
9:30 a.m. CT July 28: FOX Sports power rankings for the start of training camp have the Titans at No. 27, ahead of Cleveland, Las Vegas, Miami, Arizona and the Jets. That feels a little bit high, but there's no team below them that is necessarily all that good either. Interesting to see the Titans are at least considered to be at the top of the class among bottom-rung teams.

What to know about the Titans today
5 a.m. CT July 28: Borgonzi and coach Robert Saleh will meet with local media for a news conference scheduled to begin at noon CT. It will mark the official start of training camp, as players trickle in for report date and coaches put the finishing touches on preparation for the practice schedule.
Topics expected to be discussed include the injuries to JC Latham and Amani Hooker, quarterback Cam Ward's offseason development, position battles on the offensive line, expectations for the seasons and more.
The news conference is expected to be live streamed via the Titans' social media channels, and The Tennessean will share live updates in this thread as possible.
Who's going to make the Titans' roster? Here's your primer
The Tennessean ran the numbers and found roughly 40 players on roster vying for about a dozen unclaimed roster spots. Barring injury and trades, these are the players for whom training camp will matter the most. Click here to understand the stakes.
JC Latham, Amani Hooker on PUP. What does that mean?
The Titans put OT JC Latham and safety Amani Hooker on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp. Broadly, that doesn't mean all that much. Players can be activated from the PUP as soon as they're ready within camp. The move tends to matter more if players' injuries linger into the fall, creating a return-to-play protocol that's different than being placed on IR after cut day.
With Latham, a source told The Tennessean as far back as June that the injury he was dealing with wasn't considered major. It's still a hassle for a player who'll need to make a major jump this fall to be missing out on much-needed developmental reps under a new coaching staff, but the Titans also saw with Latham last year that forcing him on to the field too soon after an injury can end poorly.
As for Hooker, he has the Titans' trust. Whenever he's healthy, expect him to factor into the defense. That said, the Titans won't be hurting with Kevin Winston, Tony Adams and Kendell Brooks manning the back end in the interim.
Cam Ward on Netflix

Titans depth chart projection 2026
Heading into training camp, here's The Tennessean's projection for what the starters and backups should look like when the Titans' season starts on Sept. 13:
- QB: Cam Ward | Mitchell Trubisky
- RB: Tony Pollard | Tyjae Spears
- WR: Carnell Tate, Calvin Ridley, Wan'Dale Robinson | Elic Ayomanor, Chimere Dike
- TE: Gunnar Helm | Daniel Bellinger
- OT: Dan Moore Jr., JC Latham | Austin Deculus
- OG: Peter Skoronski, Cordell Volson | Jackson Slater
- C: Austin Schlottmann | Pat Coogan
- DL: Jeffery Simmons, John Franklin-Myers | Jordan Elliott, Solomon Thomas
- DE: Jermaine Johnson II, Keldric Faulk | Jacob Martin, Oluwafemi Oladejo
- LB: Cody Barton, Cedric Gray | Anthony Hill
- CB: Alontae Taylor, Cor'Dale Flott, Marcus Harris | Joshua Williams
- S: Kevin Winston Jr., Amani Hooker | Tony Adams
- ST: Joey Slye, Tommy Townsend, Morgan Cox
Titans position battles: What to know
Consider these the five most premium position battles:
Right guard: Cordell Volson is the veteran. Jackson Slater and Fernando Carmona are the homegrown youth options. None of these feel like great options, but it'll be interesting to see who surprises coaches and fans alike.
Center: This doesn't feel like as much of a competition with the way Austin Schlottmann handled the job in OTAs, but Pat Coogan's presence and the signing of Andre James makes it something nonetheless.
Linebacker: Will Anthony Hill be able to push Cody Barton for a starting role from the jump? It's possible, even if it's not super likely.
Swing tackle: Especially with JC Latham starting the year on PUP, it'll be worth monitoring how Austin Deculus, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, Zach Thomas, Aamil Wagner and Rasheed Miller compete for playing time as the No. 3 tackle.
Defensive end: It's no foregone conclusion that Keldric Faulk starts off the edge with Jacob Martin, Jaylen Harrell, Femi Oladejo and more pushing for roles. Consider it Faulk's job to lose, though.
Titans coaching staff 2026
As a refresher, here's the staff:

- Special teams coordinator: John Fassel
- Offensive assistants: Shea Tierney (QBs), Randy Jordan (RBs), Greg Lewis (WRs), Luke Stocker (TEs), Carmen Bricillo (OL), Cade Knox (game management), Isaac Williams (asst. OL), Trevor Browder (off. asst.), John Rudnicki (off. asst)
