Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward saved his worst decision for last when his ill-advised pass late in the fourth quarter of his team's 12-7 loss against the New York Giants was intercepted in the end zone Sept. 27 with 17 seconds left.
Titans coach Robert Saleh acknowledged as much during his press conference Sept. 28.
"When he sees the tape, I'm sure he's going to want that one back," Saleh said. "He feels like he probably should have given him a better ball. I don't think he ever saw (the defender).
"I'm sure from Cam's perspective, he wishes he did something different with it."
Instead, he went for the what would have been the go-ahead score on first-and-goal from the 7-yard line. Rather than throwing the ball away and resetting, Ward chose
to try to throw it to Elic Ayomanor, who was covered.
Jevon Holland intercepted it, the Giants ran out the clock and the Titans fell to 0-3.
Robert Saleh on Cam Ward: 'Far from reckless'
Saleh said Ward "made a bad decision on that play but said it was "not a reckless decision."
"I'd love for all of us to be 100 percent in all of our decision making, but it's just not going to happen," Saleh said. "It's unfortunate that one of his critical mistakes came on the last play of the game. But for the most part he has been very, very good with the ball. He takes care of it.
"He gave him a bad ball. Bad decision, not a reckless decision, bad decision, which I'm sure he recognizes. But Cam is far from reckless."
Ward's interception was his first of the season. He is 55-of-88 passing for 504 yards with two touchdowns through three games.

“(In the final two minutes), that's when you know your teammates need you the most,” Ward told reporters after the game. “That's when you have to be on your p’s and q’s the most. The last play of the game, I wasn't.”
