Titans quarterback Cam Ward ran three feet and received credit for the first touchdown his team scored during a 24-20 last-minute loss against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 20 at Nissan Stadium.
But safety Amani Hooker was the main person responsible, essentially for a 14-point swing in the first quarter that boosted the Titans hopes of their first win of the season and first 1-1 start since 2023.
The math is simple: Hooker's interception in the Eagles' end zone and the 92 yards he returned it not only led to seven points for the Titans, but stole a potential seven from Hurts and his teammates.
It gave the allergic-to-offense Titans hope when there seemed to be none.
"Long drive (by the Eagles)," Hooker said. "Had to go 100 yards.
It was pretty tough. But at the end of the day, that's my expectation, when I get the ball, it's to try to score.
"But running that far without doing 12 plays before that would have been pretty hard."
That hope vanished three quarters later, when Eagles receiver Darius Cooper caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from Hurts with nine ticks left to tock on the clock.
"It shows you how small the margin for error is in this league to be able to win," Hooker said. "Hopefully guys can see what it takes, and that everything matters across the board."

How Titans defense picked up Cam Ward, offense
Ward, the second-year quarterback and the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, continued to struggle to the tune of 13-of-20 passing for 183 yards and zero touchdowns. The Titans managed just 291 yards of total offense.
In short, the Titans' best offense in this game was their defense.
In stepped Marcus Harris, who intercepted Hurts with 6:08 left and the score tied 17-all.
Twelve plays later, Joey Slye's 33-yard field goal gave the Titans hope again, and a 20-17 lead with 1:56 remaining.
"It feels good," he said of his first interception of his NFL career. "But we want the win to come with it.
"I don't think there's such a thing as moral victories. You either win or lose. The outcome was we lost."
Titans defense was put to the test
The Titans spent 36:25 on the field, compared to 23:35 for the Eagles.
Despite that, Tennessee had limited the Eagles to 41 total yards in the second half before the Eagles' game-winning drive.
"I think we had enough energy, for sure," Harris said. "It still hurts to come up short."
