A suspected gas leak at a preschool led to an evacuation of the building on Oct. 5, according to a Nashville Fire Department spokesperson.
Green Hills Child Development, a childcare center located on Belmont Boulevard, was vacated after reports of a suspicious odor led firefighters to suspect a leak. A gas technician, who was requested in order to identify the smell, told the department it was not natural gas. It was later found to have come from an industrial solvent found in a sewer line.
One adult present was assessed, but no medical transports were made as a result of the smell. Fire crews are currently working with Metro Water Services to understand the reach of the scent, according to the spokesperson.
