Brad Keselowski, the 2012 NASCAR Cup champion, will not drive for RFK Racing, a team he co-owns, after the 2026 season.
Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing and Keselowski, in separate statements, announced on Sept. 29 that Keselowski will endhis time as driver of the No. 6 Ford Mustang with the team at the end of the 2026 Cup season.
While Keselowski will continue to race with RFK for the remainder of the 2026 season, it is unclear if he will stay on as an owner beyond that.
"RFK Racing and Keselowski intend to collaboratively and mutually work through the appropriate next steps regarding his existing ownership interest in the organization,
and the team supports his desire to explore his career opportunities elsewhere," according to a statement released by RFK Racing.
On Nov 16, 2021, Roush Fenway Racing changed its name to RFK Racing with the addition of Keselowski in a driver-owner role.
Keseowlski, 42, has 36 Cup wins since his first full season at the sport's top level in 2010. He started the 2026 season with a fifth-place finish in the Daytona 500. He was second at Darlington in March but had only three other top-10 finishes in the regular season and failed to make the NASCAR Chase.
Keselowski posted on his X account that he appreciated his time driving for RFK and has no plans to retire.
"I am nowhere near ready to be done as a driver. I still have a lot I want to accomplish in this sport, and I'm looking forward to what comes next," Keselowski wrote. "I am thankful for everyone who has been a part of this journey and for the fans who continue to support me. I look forward to sharing future plans when the time is right."
RFK issued a statement from Chip Bowers, President of RFK Racing, thanking Keselowski for his contribution to the organization as a driver and co-owner.
“We are big fans of Brad as a person, driver, and colleague. The impact Brad has made on our organization has been felt by everyone associated with RFK Racing; he’s undoubtedly been a terrific representative of our collective efforts both on and off the track. He was not simply driving the No. 6 car but investing himself in the future of the team and helping us think differently about what RFK Racing could become.
"We have tremendous respect for Brad as a champion, competitor, and leader, and we are grateful for the energy and commitment he has brought to RFK. Brad has been clear about his desire to continue competing for years to come, and we respect and support him in pursuing the path that best allows him to achieve those goals. With several races still ahead, we look forward to competing together through the remainder of the season.”
