A new report found that two Tennessee ZIP codes were among the most popular in the U.S. in August.
A new report by MovingPlace, an online marketplace that connects customers with moving providers, identified the nation’s hottest, most-trending ZIP codes by analyzing nearly 1 million recent moves.
The study examined origin and destination ZIP codes to determine which areas are seeing the biggest increases in moving activity, both nationwide and within each state.
The hottest ZIP codes saw the highest per-capita move rate, while the top trending ZIP codes saw the most dramatic month-over-month changes in move volume, with unusual spikes in the number of people moving into the area.
Here's a look at Tennessee's hottest ZIP codes.

Why are small cities among the most popular ZIP codes?
August’s data shows that late-summer moving activity is shifting away from the vacation-market destinations that led earlier in the year and toward a mix of newer-construction suburbs and institutional relocations. The month-over-month “surge” list was unusually scattered geographically, spanning Texas, Iowa, California, Arizona, North Carolina, Kansas, Illinois and Tennessee, suggesting late-summer relocation spikes are driven by specific areas rather than a single dominant regional trend.
Centerville, in Hickman County, saw a 55% increase in moves to the city between July and August 2026. In August, 31 people moved to the city of 3,535, up from 20 in July, making it one of the country's largest month-over-month increases.
