What is 'Gilmore Girls' about?
"Gilmore Girls" follows the close relationship between mother and daughter Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, portrayed by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, as they navigate life, love and coffee in the quirky fictional town of Stars Hollow.
According to the "Gilmore Girls" wiki, the series is known for its fast-paced dialogue, pop culture references and the dynamic mother-daughter duo’s love of caffeine.
Young, single mother Lorelai runs the town’s bed-and-breakfast, the Independence Inn, alongside her best friend and chef, Sookie — portrayed by Melissa McCarthy — while also navigating weekly dinners with her eccentric, wealthy parents.
Rory, a studious and introverted teen whose dream of attending Harvard began at age three, is a sophomore at the prestigious, fictional Chilton prep school. According to the wiki, Rory is a high school sophomore at the start of the series and a recent college graduate by the finale.
Earlier this year, HBO Max announced plans for a new "Gilmore Girls" documentary that will explore the legacy of the series.
The project is set to feature interviews with creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, executive producer Daniel Palladino and cast members, along with never-before-seen outtakes, behind-the-scenes footage and script pages. A release date has not yet been announced.
Why is fall known as 'Gilmore Girls' season?
As countless TikTok videos suggest, fall is the season for watching "Gilmore Girls," solidifying its status as a comfort show for many.
But what makes the series so closely tied to this time of year?
Much of the show’s storyline centers around Rory’s academic life, meaning many episodes take place in the fall, when school is starting. Summer is often skipped entirely in the "Gilmore Girls" universe. Additionally, the series originally premiered in early October, further linking it to autumn.
