Nashville SC is adding reinforcements to its defense ahead of a final push for the MLS Supporters' Shield.
NSC announced the signing of wing back Owen Presthus on loan from the Columbus Crew through the end of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season (February to May). Nashville will pay Columbus $50,000 in General Allocation Money as part of the deal, with another $50,000 being paid if certain performance-based add-ons are met.
NSC will have the option to permanently acquire Presthus at the conclusion of his loan deal.
“Owen is a talented young player that we believe fits really well with what our group embodies on and off the field,” Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs said
in a news release. “His versatility to be able to play on both the left and the right, as well as in defense and in midfield, along with his extensive experience already as both a professional and youth international, puts him in position to be a key contributor in our group as we continue to grow and build for the future.”
Presthus has made three appearances for the Crew this season, two of which came in the U.S. Open Cup. He's also made nine appearances for Columbus' MLS Next Pro affiliate in 2026, recording three goals and an assist while primarily playing right wing back.
The 20-year-old has also made three appearances for the U20 U.S. national team, providing two assists.
Why Nashville SC signed Owen Presthus
Presthus looks to be a signing for the future, with the chance to add depth at right back alongside the likes of Andy Najar and Josh Bauer. Najar, a two-time MLS All-Star, is currently under contract through the end of the 2026 season, with a club option to extend through December 2027.
Presthus has limited MLS experience, but still shy of his 21st birthday, he could one day develop into an impact player for NSC. Given his more extensive output for Columbus' MLS Next Pro affiliate, Presthus could find himself regularly featuring for NSC's affiliate Huntsville City FC.
