An operation to recover a pair of stolen vehicles led to the arrests of five teenagers, including a 14-year-old, according to a Nashville Police press release.
On the night of Oct. 13, detectives with the Violent Crimes division began following two vehicles, which had been reported stolen, driving next to each other. One of the stolen cars was a 2024 Kia sedan.
After the two vehicles separated, a police helicopter followed the Kia to the 800 block of South 6th Street, and officers on the ground deployed spike strips on Shelby Avenue near South 8th Street. Two 17-year-olds and a 14-year-old were apprehended after fleeing on foot, and a handgun was recovered from one of the 17-year-olds.
The other vehicle, a 2026 Jeep Compass, stopped on the 500
block of Fatherland Street, where two 18-year-olds were taken into custody.
All five teenagers are charged with vehicle theft and evading arrest, and the two 18-year-olds were charged with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors.
The arrests come over a week after five suspects were arrested in connection to nearly two dozen stolen vehicles in the Midtown Hills and West Precinct areas. The group involved, which included three minors and one 18-year-old, were found in two Hyundais.
