An armed teenager went on a high-speed joyride through South Nashville, according to an affidavit.
On Oct. 17, officers witnessed an 18-year-old driving a vehicle without headlights or taillights, and a police helicopter registered the vehicle was moving over 100 mph through neighborhood roads, such as Harding Place and Edmondson Pike, the affidavit said.
Officers attempted a traffic stop on the teen, but he ignored them and continued barreling down Edmondson Pike, crashing into a Toyota sedan at an intersection. After the collision, the teen grabbed a rifle from inside his vehicle and ran towards a woodline. When he reemerged, he was no longer carrying the firearm. The teen then led officers on a chase back to Harding Place before surrendering.
The 18-year-old faces multiple charges, including four for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, evading arrest, evading arrest with a motor vehicle, aggravated reckless driving, and drag racing, the affidavit said.
He is being held on $126,000 bond and is set to appear in court on Oct. 21, his birthday.
