Rain returns to Nashville and Middle Tennessee this weekend and it could get a little dicey.
"Yes, the streak of dry days will come to an end," the National Weather Service office in Nashville said.
There's a chance of some showers overnight July 31, but the bulk of the action will be Aug. 1. Areas of Nashville east of Interstate 65, down to Franklin, Columbia and east to Murfreesboro are under a slight risk for severe weather. Areas west are under the lesser marginal risk.
Those storms could bring damaging winds and heavy rain, and a lot of it, to the region.
"While the threat of flooding is low, it's worth keeping an eye on the forecast as we edge closer to the weekend," the weather service said. "These rain chances will beget more rain chances,
as we continue to see medium to high rain chances next week."
Storm chances are possible through at least Aug. 6, according to the weather service, with chances as high as 70% some days. It'll also bring temperatures down into the high 80s, but that won't last long as they increase slightly each day.
