Downtown Nashville Wine Festival
The 24th annual Wine on the River event will take place on Saturday, Sept 12 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Riverfront Park in downtown Nashville. Wine, beer and spirits from different regions of the globe are included with admission, food is available for purchase. Enjoy sounds of live music while taking in views of the skyline, river and bridges from the park.
This is a rain-or-shine event. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit local charity, The District. This is a nonprofit organization dedicated to economic and community revitalization of the three historic districts in downtown Nashville of Broadway, 2nd Avenue/Riverfront and Printers
Alley. Funds are raised to foster and stimulate growth of district identity and further retain the downtown Nashville area especially supporting restoration from the Christmas Day bombings.

Authentic Highland Games
The Middle Tennessee Highlander Games in Hendersonville is a nonprofit event on September 12 and 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is to promote kinship and a sense of shared identity for Tennesseans of Scottish descent and anyone interested in exploring this ancestry. There will be athletic events, piping competitions, entertainment, scotch tasting and highland dancing.
Volunteers are needed to help with event set up and breakdown, greeting guest, information tent, merchandise tent, golf cart drivers, kid zone support, patron tent and mascots. Deadline to sign up is Sept. 1 at 11:59 p.m.
Race in East Nashville
The 4th annual Music City Run for Dyslexia is happening Sept. 26 through Nashville’s beautiful Shelby Bottoms Greenway with a 5K, 10K or 1-mile fun run. This event is sponsored by nonprofit Learning Matters, which helps K-12 students with dyslexia and other learning issues achieve their full potential through assessments, tutoring and advocacy.
Volunteers will help with whatever is needed including setting up, hospitality tables, handing out medals, checking on runners, hanging signs or directing participants. Groups, children 13-16 years old accompanied by an adult or 16 years and over are welcome.
